as per my previous post, i’m loading up the truck and moving to laguna beach. i’m actually kind of a weirdo about moving — even though i’m definitely a homebody, i really like moving to new places and having the chance to redecorate all over again. the packing part, not so much, but the unpacking and seeing how your treasures fit in a brand new space is really fun for me. in this case, the cottage is smaller, so i need to downsize quite a bit (stay tuned for some online sales and a yard sale soon!) and i also need to replace a few things, like my sofa which is too large, and i’ll need a cool new bookcase since i can’t take my built-in with me. but for me, that’s the fun part — hunting for new pieces to complete my home and make it my very own, uniquely ‘me’ space!
i’ve been inspired by a few places and people — this gorgeous frogtown home, designer leanne ford’s golden touch and especially her little cabin in the big city project, and also serena mitnik-miller and mason st. peter’s incredibly beautiful topanga home. i want to keep the cottage pretty open and minimal and rather ‘wabi-sabi’ with lots of white and neutrals — slipcovered sofa and chairs (like these from elsie green), vintage rattan (i’m keeping my daybed for the guestroom!), sisal rugs and oversized paper lanterns. anyway, here’s a peek at what i’m getting inspired by at the moment. stay tuned for more!
