well, i’m back with this week’s friday finds and i think i see a recurring pattern here — it would appear i’m definitely missing my trips abroad to europe! i miss seeing different types of architecture and artwork most especially because it always leaves me feeling so inspired when i return home. alas, we can’t travel yet, but hopefully, with the vaccine being distributed and everyone doing their part to keep each other safe we’ll be traveling again by the end of the year if not sooner (fingers crossed!). stay healthy out there, have a good weekend. monday we honor martin luther king jr day so i’ll see you tuesday.

- this incredible bathroom has so many inspiring elements — from the incredible patinated copper bathtub to the lovely black and white tile work and then those pale turquoise beams bringing the room all together — they appear almost like a reflection from the bathwater. i love it all.
- i’m a huge fan of british painter @fayeweiwei. her work is so whimsical and uplifting to me and this painting of hers is no exception. if you like her work you’ll love following her on instagram and this is a really fun interview with her.
- the @houseofbrinson account is always an inspiring one to follow. their renovations of a hudson valley, new york home is always a source of great ideas, including this wallpapered nook with a stunning pattern from Brunschwig and Fils, a French brand founded in 1891. follow their renovations on their blog and check out their shop, too — it’s full of great renovation tools and home decor ideas.
- i love this charming and very eclectic french living space and the soft color palette is just so soothing. i live with so much white, but sometimes i think i’d like to paint some walls a very pale aqua like this one — not sure i’ll go there, but i always enjoy imagining a new look.
- this lovely place is Villa Santo Sospir, overlooking the sea in st. Jean Cap Ferrat, france. in the 1940’s it was bought by Alec Weisweiller, who had promised his wife Francine her dream house in the South of France if they survived the war. the story goes that artist Jean Cocteau came to visit, grew restless and painted the villa’s walls with his mural masterpieces like the one you see here. this is one place i’d love to see inside one day!
- i have a real ‘thing’ for ornate juxtapositioned with modern kitsch and this 1500s italian apartment in palermo is a prime example of just that. i’m sure the architects of the 1500’s never envisioned a 1950’s fridge in here, but it brings me so much joy.
- the only thing my little cottage is missing is a fireplace, which would be so cozy on foggy seaside nights. this pretty fireplace mantel gives me all the good feels and maybe one day we’ll build one here or bring in a repurposed vintage mantelpiece — i know just the spot!
- barcelona-based salvo López is probably one of my very favorite photographers and this image is a great example of his beautiful work. i love this very ornate indoor pool. though abandoned i think i love it all the more for that reason– the tiles and colors are magical! follow him on instagram for more of his inspiring work.
