well, my friends, it’s time for me to say a brief au revoir. it’s time for my summer sojourn and i’m definitely headed to paris. i was on the fence a bit because it’s bloody hot there right now, but i just gotta get the heck outta dodge! i have two great friends who will happen to individually be there next week so i just had to crash their Parisian party. it’s been three years since i’ve gone absolutely anywhere, so heading to one of my favorite cities seems like a very good idea, regardless of the temperature. that’s what kir royales at outside cafés are for, ouí? i’ll have plenty of ‘best of’ posts up for you for the next couple of weeks, so please do check-in. and if you fancy a virtual trip to paris, follow along with me on instagram. i’ll be sure to share all my new french finds. and now, without further adieu, this week’s friday finds. see you in a few weeks!
xo, victoria
- now, i realize this pretty picture was taken by photographer andrea calandra is actually in italy, but it still gets me in the mood for my trip to france. the architecture, the café hosts greeting you in the street doing their best to coax you inside, the charming narrow walking streets, and those very picturesque window awnings — ooooh la la. i love a good, European striped awning!
- now, this pretty home is in France, marseille to be exact. it’s the beautiful home of Sophie Ferjani host of france’s Maison à Vendre (think the french version of our hgtv) and i love the color palette. that pretty pink velvet chair peeking around the corner from those dark green walls is just sublime and of course those fabulous floors. visit the socialite family for the full fabulous home tour.
- this incredible flat featured in house and garden is in France, too. it’s a Parisian pied-à-terre in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés designed by Marianne Evennou who works her magic with paint and some very dreamy textiles, creating an amazing color palette that adds a lot of oomph to a very small space.
- this sweet dining nook looks très Parisien to me. the art gallery prints, the built-in shelving painted a lovely shade of blue and a bouquet of fresh florals all say ‘bonjour, allons prendre un petit-déjeuner’. on a side note, i’ve been practicing my french on duolingo for over a year now and it’s finally starting to sink in (a little!). i highly recommend it if you’re looking to learn a new language.
- i love the clothes from doen, but did you know they have an online journal, too? this ojai, california studio visit with rebekah miles is most inspiring! i’d never seen her beautiful ceramic work before and just fell in love with her whimsical pieces. you can find more work from rebekah on her website and shop for her pieces online.
- is this not one of the most cheerful kitchens you’ve ever seen? i think it may be! i love Clotilde Vente’s vintage art collection, the big yellow framed mirror, and naturally, i’m a sucker for those cute cabinet skirts covering up the often unsightly plumbing. it’s all very fresh and french-looking. she also has an incredible vacation property rental in L’Isle sur la Sorgue, in the southeast of france, known for its antique stores and weekend markets. bookmarking that.
- i get so much inspiration from prop stylists and the prop dispensary in melbourne, australia is no exception. i love their creatively madcap and mismatched tabletop collections. this mix of both vintage and modern dishware is so much fun. i’m continually adding to my whimsical tablescapes pinboard if you like playing around with your tablescapes, too. and follow @thepropdispensary for more.
- i’ve got such a crush on mid-century vintage modern willy guhl planters. even the name is fun to say. these beauties belong to cyndia harvey’s beautiful london home, featured recently on the modern home. if you love these funky planters, too, check out my latest curations, i always add them to the shop when i spot some for sale.
