i don’t know about you, but i’m armchair traveling an awful lot — browsing assouline’s beautiful travel books as they are thought-provoking and travel-inducing as well as a beautiful addition to any coffee table. and i just binge-watched ewan mcgregor’s long way up apple tv adventure series which put me into major journey envy (not to mention his charm is just so watchable!). so today’s friday finds are all about globetrotting. happy friday everyone! and i’ll be back from paris and return to regular posting on monday!
xo, victoria
- venice, italy is one of my favorite places on the planet. not the touristy bits but the smaller neighborhoods where locals hang out. i’ve never made it to burano there yet so i’m longing to get back and visit those colorful, watery streets. oh, and don’t miss the peggy guggenheim museum, either. my most favorite museum ever.
- lake como is another spot high on my list to visit in italy. and not to run into resident george clooney, of course. i just want to see that incredible lake in person, perhaps linger all day with a picnic, some rosé, and a great read. maybe i’ll get an invite (in my dreams). by the way, always have your passport current — you never know what travel opportunities might wing your way.
- this adorable ‘Va Tutto Bene’ tote bag is the perfect bag to have at our sides no matter where in the world we’re shopping. but i can picture this cute bag on my arm as i leisurely stroll through a european farmer’s market for the freshest fruits. can’t you?
- this lovely blog song of style has some great recommendations for getting off the beaten path in paris (and loads of other cities, too). that’s my very favorite part of travel really — getting off the grid and pretending i live in a city and living as much like a local as possible.
- petite passport is another of my very favorite travel blogs. she always finds (and photographs beautifully) the best places and i’ve used her recommendations countless times, from lisbon to barcelona and beyond. this review of a new spot in paris, pianoterra looks like a must-visit. she also has wonderfully handy downloadable PDF’s of city travel guides.
- another wonderful travel resource is Emily Nathan’s tiny atlas quarterly — the website, quarterly journals, instagram feed and travel book feature travel photography from an abundance of talents like this photo by @zephyrineartois and are all so inspiring. if they don’t get you packing a bag, i don’t know what will.
- swedish photographer anna malmberg is another amazing photographic resource for getting yourself geared up and excited for travel. her images never fail to give me destination ideas. i’d love to enjoy an al fresco dinner party at this beautiful outdoor table, for instance. wouldn’t you?
- another place i’m aching to visit is morocco, and Riad Jardin Secret in Marrakech specifically. i’ve been ogling photos of this dreamy spot on instagram for ages, so perhaps on my next super marché shopping trip to france we’ll pop over to morocco on the way home. one can dream! and to dream in this lovely guest room? yes, please!
