Along design-filled Sacramento Street in San Francisco’s Presidio Heights, you’ll find the delightful home of St. Frank textiles. The studio offers a beautiful selection of handmade decorative items using artisan textiles from around the world, including framed art, pillows, throws and accessories—each embodying the authentic cultural heritage of the communities from which they originate. Pieces from over twenty different countries are featured within the space.
Each unique item comes from a special place and with a special story, and an envelope and info card is included noting the historical and cultural significance of the piece. St. Frank’s mission is all about supporting economic empowerment for artisans (by providing quality jobs, training and support) and preserving traditional craft. You’ll find indigos from Mali, Otomi embroidery from Mexico, ikats from Uzbekistan and huipils from Guatemala. Beyond textiles, there are Cameroon juju hats and clay Day of the Dead skulls. And plenty of style books for ideas and inspiration.
You can visit the shop in-person or explore the full collection online. The design living section on their web site is a great source to see how others incorporate such vibrant pieces into their own space.
